Obviously not a Real Post, but an overview thingie I’ve wanted to write for a while now so that I can link to it in that link list over there to your right. What can I say – I have a thing for archiving stuff. XD
“Tell me… how could it have come to this?”
My first layout at the backloggery, the one I’ve had from day one and also the one I won MotW with. Shows Ramza and Delita from Final Fantasy Tactics and uses artwork from the Lion War PSP port. (By the way, have I mentioned recently that this new translation is sexy?)
“Into the Labyrinth!”
Uses artwork from Etrian Odyssey. I was heads over heels in love with the game at the time I made the layout, even though it’s in a genre that doesn’t usually appeal to me all that much (remember my post about it?), and I’m still playing it on and off. Green is pretty much my favourite colour, if I have to chose just one, and I’m still very fond of this theme. There’s also a sense of adventure I feel when I look at the entrance to the Yggdrasil Labyrinth, so that helps too…
“Pink! Moe! Princess!”
Nia from the anime Tengen Toppa Gurren Lagann, uses artwork from the same. Arcadios and Dystorce had matching Simon and Kamina themes at that time and I just couldn’t resist joining the craze and making my backloggery page Nia-themed. I like the character a good deal, even though she’s little more that something to move the plot forward in part two… but who cares when it’s for a layout; she’s cute! XD I only had her theme for a very short time (less than two weeks) though.
“Those who have seen the longest night will see the brightest dawn.”
(Incidentally, that’s also part of my current footer text, but psssst.) Elika from the latest Prince of Persia game, image taken from one of the promotional pictures. It’s without a doubt the banner I worked on the longest, first hunting for a font that fit the mood of both the picture and the game and then writing down all that little illegible text you see in the background. Yes, it does actually make sense, more or less. (It’s mostly irrelevant stuff about light and darkness and souls and faith and believing in yourself and illusions and truth and dreams though. *g*) The banner is a tad larger than I normally like it, but otherwise, I’m quite proud of it. ^^;
“Every good Skypirate needs a partner, right?”
Penelo, Vaan, Balthier and Fran from Final Fantasy XII with a background from FFXII: Revenant Wings; character images taken from Itadaki Street Portable‘s official artwork. Red is a colour I tire of quickly, and I wanted something that was more “cute” than “classy”, and FFXII has the advantage of being one of my favourite games ever. The banner is a good 50 pixels smaller (in height) this time and I like it better that way… I don’t have much else to say really. ^^

“Spring Placeholder: Musubi”
Musubi from the harem/comedy-meets-shonen-adventure manga Sekirei. Quickly thrown together because I couldn’t look at the previous theme’s colours any longer. I didn’t like it much, which explains why it survived not even 24 hours on my page. Musubi herself is adorable though. XD

“Welcome to Treasure Town!”
The titular town and various inhabitants from Pokémon Mystery Dungeon: Explorers of Time/Darkness. I’ve wanted to do a sprite layout forever and I’m currently obsessed with the game, so I used my enthusiasm to spend way too much time (two hours? -.-) on the banner for this layout… and then another hour to pick the colours. Picking the colours for the one was a nightmare, but I think the result is okay. I’m a Piplup with a Bulbasaur partner in the game, that’s why the two of them are doing their victory pose in the banner. I’m especially fond of the three Poochyenas, they’re the best, hehe.

“One born of a dragon”
Cecil, Rosa and Kain with Tellah and Edward from Final Fantasy IV. Funny enough, I’ve never been terribly fond of this particular picture, but it made a better banner than most others from this game and I wanted something to go along with what will hopefully be the playthrough in which I finally finish FFIV. The sequel is coming to Europe via WiiWare in just two days, and in honour of that, I finally want to beat IV… Anyway, I’m not sure how long this theme will last. I want to do something for Last Remnant if I can find a better-quality picture of the image where David is sitting on his throne with the four generals around him than the one over at Creative Uncut… or of course I could do something completely different. XD

“Don’t mess with the first Nina!”
… or something; I can’t really think of a good name for this one. Ironically enough, I changed out of my FF layout when I started a FF marathon. Ah well, I needed something new again, so Nina it is. I’ve only played the first Breath of Fire and I’m not very far in at this point, but I already like it and even though I’m not currently playing it, it’s now featured in my layout. … which makes me want to play it. <.< But anyway, I'm not sure (once again) how long this stays up, but for now, it'll do. Oh, and the design's footer is a mix of all the games I'm currently playing, "Wait, so I'm a job-changing winged girl on an online-offline marathon who kills vampires with Metal Gears? ". XD
