Guess what: I’ve found a new game to pour my time into. (I know, I know. This is hardly newsworthy, I do that all the time.) But here’s the unusual bit: The game consists almost entirely of elements that I usually can’t stand and that make me drop a game faster than I’d drop a book consisting of nothing but mushy romance. And I drop those fast.
First person dungeons. Almost no story, at all. No default characters. Many, many random encounters in a first-person perspective where you don’t even get to see your own guys attacking. Did I mention no coherent plot? Much level grinding.
I should hate the game with a passion and be trying to sell it on eBay right now. Instead, I love it.
I am talking, and the icon I’m currently using kind of gives it away to anyone who knows the game, Etrian Odyssey (DS).
